Stone Temple Pilots announced on their official web page today that they have canned the lead singer, the man that makes Stone Temple Pilots, Stone Temple Pilots (in my opinion) - Scott Weiland!
The band doesn’t want to say another word about the big news, but Scott sure does. He reportedly said that he had no clue he was being fired but could care less because he created Stone Temple Pilots and he’ll continue to play their songs. He apparently has a tour coming up where he will play songs from the albums Purple and Core, which are from the early 90′s. The tour is called Purple at the Core and will go around central and eastern U.S. in the month of March.
I learned of my supposed ‘termination’ from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be ‘terminated’ from a band that I founded, fronted, and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out.
There have been rumors for several months that the band was not doing well. In fact, Slash, who was Weiland’s bandmate in Velvet Revolver, said that he heard Weiland had been fired from the band in December, which is why he was hoping Weiland would come back to Velvet Revolver.
Guess there’s time for that now.
STP have been back together since 2008 after taking five years off because fellow STP’er Dean Deleo hated Weiland and his addiction and bad behavior.
