Early Tracking for “The Hunger Games” Suggests Opening Near $100 Million!

First Still of Jennifer Lawrence as CatnissDamn!

The Hollywood Reporter is coming out with astounding estimates for the opening of  The Hunger Games.

How astounding? Well, THR suggest the opening weekend could approach near $100 million, based on tracking.

The movie, an adaptation based on Suzanne Collins’ popular young-adult series, stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.  Speculation is high that the first weekend take will best Twilight’s 2008 opening of$70 million, because male interest in the film is much higher.

Plus, let’s be real – the movie looks a hell of a lot more interesting.

The strongest interest, though, comes from females 25 and under, followed by older females, younger males and finally older males.

This author would love to see this movie doing well. Any film which portrays a strong, young female who is independent and fierce?  It has my attention any day! Girl power and all that.  And you bet I’ll be in a seat opening weekend!
