WSOC-TV is reporting that just two years after being suspended from NASCAR, ex-driver Jeremy Mayfield has been arrested for possession of meth, and having around $100,000 dollars worth of stolen items.
LET’S GO BACK TO THE FUTURE:
Mayfield was suspended indefintely by NASCAR on May 2, 2009 for violating NASCAR’s substance abuse policy after testing positive for methamphetamine. Mayfield asked NASCAR to refute the claims while also receiving a temporary injunction from a U.S. District court judge to force NASCAR to reinstate him. Just five days after NASCAR re-instated Mayfield, he once again was told to GTFO by NASCAR after testing positive to methamphetamines again.
On July 15, 2009 Mayfield’s stepmother, Lisa Mayfield stated that Mayfield was using meth since 1998. A U.S Federal Appeals Court reviewed Mayfield’s temporary injunction and later reversed it. Thus, Mayfield was again suspended from NASCAR.
Lisa Mayfield later ended up filing a lawsuit against Jeremy for slander and sought monetary damages that were never specified. - Great Scott! He really was a pain in the ass!
According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Mayfield was arrested at his home in the town of Catawba. Deputies went to Mayfield’s house with a search warrant after getting a tip that there were stolen goods there. During the search, deputies allegedly found 1.5 grams of methamphetamine in a gun safe.
A “large amount” of stolen items were recovered from Mayfield’s property, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the neighboring county that is home to the business Mayfield allegedly pilfered the goods from.
The items recovered for Lee Boy, Inc., included heavy equipment parts, scrap metal, welders and welding accessories, the Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators said the items recovered for Larry Grant, Inc., including truck parts, an engraving machine, truck mirrors and electric motor controllers.
The items recovered are worth around $100,000, the Sheriff’s Office said. They were found in a building and trailers on Mayfield’s property and were returned to the owners, investigators said. – Credit -WSOCTV
